Savannah is well-equipped for university medicine

Savannah Dissanayake, a first year Monash University medical student, is prepared for the challenges ahead she will encounter at university.

Savannah attributes her readiness to her completing both after-school learning programmes. ߲ Maths develops quick, precise calculation skills in students, while ߲ English builds a high level of reading comprehension ability.

In ߲ Maths and English, students study at an Advanced students can go ahead to study content that is above their school grade, while those who may be falling behind can go back to practise and revise.

Savannah says the individualised nature of ߲ helped her greatly in school, especially in excelling HSC Maths Extension, English (Advanced) and achieving the 99th percentile in the UCAT test to gain entry into medicine. She says the independent learning ability she developed in ߲ will help her in medical school.

“Self-discipline and persistence are really important to be able to keep up with university study,” Savannah says.

“I developed these qualities through ߲. They will equip me to overcome any hurdle I may face during my university studies and beyond.”

Vimasha Bandaranayake, Savannah’s mother, says the individualised nature of ߲ encouraged her to enroll Savannah at an early age.

“I had never before seen a program that allowed capable young children to do high school Maths and English,” Vimasha says. “I really wanted to try that for my daughter.”
